Carroll County is situated in west central Iowa, and has a unique blend of rural charm and urban appeal. Carroll County boasts thirteen incorporated and three unincorporated communities ranging in population from 100 to 10,000, offering a variety of lifestyle options.

Major employers like Pella Corporation, Farner-Bocken, United  Technology Corporation Aerospace Systems, American Home Shield, West Central and NEW Co-ops, and two regional hospitals provide a solid base for employment. The county is served by six school systems including Carroll Public, and Kuemper Catholic schools offering an opportunity for public or parochial school options.
