911 AddressesThe IT Department is responsible for assigning 911 Addresses in the rural areas of the county. Each city is responsible for assigning addresses within their jurisdiction.
911 Addresses are assigned in the county based on the block ranging from north to south or west to east, and a measurement from the beginning of the block in thousandths of a mile. For instance, if an address is located between 120th and 130th Streets, the first two numbers of the address would be 12 the three remaining numbers would be a measurement from 120th street. For instance if the address was three-quarters-of-a-mile from 120th Street, the last three numbers of the address would be 750, thus the complete address of 12750 120th St. The last number is odd or even depending on which side of the road the driveway is on. South and East driveways receive an even number, and North and West driveways receive odd numbers.
It is vital that 911 numbers remain posted as installed by the county to ensure that emergency responders know where to look for your address and do not waste crucial time trying to locate your address sign.
To request a new address or report any missing signs contact the GIS Department at 712-792-1022. |
