NOTICE AND CALL OF BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING
GOVERNMENTAL BODY: CARROLL COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the above-mentioned body will meet at the date, time, and place above set out. The tentative agenda for said meeting is as follows:
- Meeting with Shive Hattery – Jail Project Meeting
The Board of Supervisors of Carroll County, Iowa met in unofficial session in the Boardroom of the Courthouse, in Carroll, Iowa, the County seat of said County on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. Central Standard Time pursuant to law, the rules of said Board and to the adjournment with all members present: Neil Bock, District 1; Dean Schettler, District 2; Eugene Meiners, District 3; Stephanie Hausman, District 4; and Richard Ruggles, District 5.
Motion by Hausman, second by Meiners to approve the agenda as presented with the addition of Region V Hazmat. On roll call, all voted aye.
The Board proceeded to discuss the Carroll County Jail. Shive-Hattery representatives Mike Lewis and Phil Parrott and the County Sheriff were also in attendance.
Mike Lewis presented Amendment No. 2 for geotechnical services. The compensation for the scope of service included in the amendment are as follows: Terracon $4,800 and Shive-Hattery fee $1,500. Motion by Ruggles, second by Meiners to authorize Chair to sign Amendment No. 2 for geotechnical services. On roll call, all voted aye. The work should be completed in three weeks.
Lewis and Parrott reviewed floor plans and gave an update on the $600,000 proposed increased project costs. Lewis explained this number is an estimate and can be adjusted with future changes.
Other topics discussed are as follows: pre-levy resolution; debt levy amount, Shive-Hattery fees for budgeting purposes; and design features of jail facility. The next jail meeting will be March 12, 2019 at 9:00 a.m.
Schettler reported on a discussion with Sioux City Fire & Rescue. They are willing to discuss letting Carroll County join their hazmat region. Their current rate is .47 cents per capita and is increasing to .97 cents per capita in FY20. Schettler discussed the rules for exiting Region V. The Board discussed concerns on response times with Sioux City Fire & Rescue. Schettler also spoke on the Region V truck purchase, Region V issuing debt, and a purchase agreement. Schettler will be attending a meeting tomorrow and will report back details to the Board.
Motion by Meiners, second by Ruggles to adjourn at 11:25 a.m. On roll call, all voted aye.
